Devotional for Men Needing to Read the Bible

We were recently sent a re-create of the Pocket Bible Devotional for Men, one of a new gear up of devotionals produced by Christian Art Publishers

ISBN: 9781432119249

Christian Fine art Gifts provided this book costless for review. We were non required to give a positive review, just an honest one. All opinions are our ain.

In many ways this devotional is like the Pocket Bible Devotional for Women I recently reviewed (review here).

This devotional measures nearly 7.1″ x 4.75″ x .75″ and weighs a little less than 12 ounces with a sewn binding and a ribbon bookmark. Information technology is covered in 2 shades of brown LuxLeather and has gold lettering and accents. The page egdes are done in a brown pattern and all the ink within is nighttime brownish.

There are 366 devotions in The Pocket Bible Devotional for Men, each on it'south own page. Every devotion is focused on a single topic and scriptures related to that topic are included taking up virtually 2/3 of the folio. The bottom 1/3 of the page includes a reflection (or short devotion) on the topic in single cavalcade format and is printed using a different font to arrive easy to distinguish from the scriptures.  They apply 4 different translations; the NIV, NLT, ESV, and NKJV.

It is divided upwards into 12 months with each having a title folio at the kickoff and an illustrated scripture on the back side of that page. Every calendar month starts on a right hand page and then the ones with an odd number of days (including Feb) ha ave blank page at the end. A list of all the included topics from Abundance to Zeal tin can be institute at the back of the book with the appointment of that topics devotion and 14 of the topics got ii devotions.

Since this is a Men's devotional and since I've already given my stance of the women's version I idea information technology all-time to include a few of Randy's thoughts while reviewing this book. I thought an interview format might piece of work well for this.

Lucinda: What was your initial thought on seeing the Pocket Devotional for Men?

Randy: I was fatigued to it because of the design. I like the color and design of the comprehend, the thick paper and the font that doesn't have a high contrast, and the clean layout. The overall size is something I want to choice up and behave.

Lucinda: Do you have a favorite feature? If so what is information technology?

Randy: I similar the design of the devotionals. They give a title, which describes the topic, so Scripture, and then a paragraph nearly the topic. The focus is on Scripture. Scripture is the best devotional.

Lucinda: Exercise you like the choice of topics covered?

Randy: I do. These are topics that apply to everyone. Many of them encompass our daily walk with God and the things nosotros face every twenty-four hours. There isn't much theology covered. What is hither is more of a passing mention, leaving open up multiple points of view. I ever recommend you practise your own study with prayer.

Lucinda: What do you think of the thought of using different translations?:

Randy: I love that idea. They've chosen the translation that conveys the point the best, and that'due south really the advantage of using multiple translations in the commencement identify. That's why I recommend reading and studying from more than one translation. We see things we wouldn't have noticed from just reading one translation. I'd like to see the KJV added though. It'southward such a cute translation that information technology feels missing.

Lucinda: Practice you accept whatsoever plans for the 8 blank pages?

Randy: I'd like to create my own devotional for something that mattered to me in that month. Information technology could be an event or something that I'grand going through. I might not write out the entire verse though.

Lucinda: Is there anything else you lot'd similar to signal out to our readers?

Randy: This, and similar devotionals, are great for devotions, but they shouldn't take the identify of reading God'due south Word with prayer. Use this equally a suplement to your reading – not in place of your reading. Also, read the Scripture in context. Subsequently reading the devotion, open up your favorite translation or two and read the entire passage- ignoring section headings and verse and chapter breaks.
